Description
Professor In History
Matthew is a talented professor of Archeology and has a special talent for languages including many ancient tongues that are no longer spoken. He claims to be an atheist who has had multiple lives and enjoys talking about them at his lectures to his students. He can remember his past lives and recall them with great detail. One of his favorite actions is to break down the faith of the students who he believes mistakenly believe in Christianity.
Then one day his world radically changes as he steps out of his tub with only his robe to find himself in Ancient Israel. He struggles with the language initially but quickly finds he can speak it fluently. Soon he meets Jesus of Nazareth who challenges his every view. Each encounter with Christ takes him deeper into the mind of God and more into his awareness of his own selfish dreams so that his belief systems are quelled into new ones. What he learns changes his life forever.
The Biblical Christian View of Past Lives
Modern philosophers want to persuade their listeners that all thought is temporary until a new idea challenges the tried and true ways of considering a topic. Many believe that they have lived other lives after consulting with psychics. The question that no one seems to answer is that if a psychic was so good at his or her job of reading the future or past, they would be correct 100% of the time and be rich beyond their wildest imagination.
The Bible considers psychics in one way: all prediction must be proven true or the listener must stone the psychic. Of course man doesn’t want to live with this type of consequence to one’s sin. The truth that the Bible states is that we live once and we die once. Our lives are a series of choices in which we may choose for God or against Him. Romans chapters 1 through 5 should be required reading of all people who wish to understand the deepest questions of life. All will die and be accountable for their choices. You cannot receive a do-over in another life to get it right; you cannot think about it in a temporary hell until you get the right answer.
Tests were created to understand one’s knowledge at the end of the class, then the final grades are given. We accept the scholastic mentality, but we do not understand the choices inside of our lives as final. Satan wants us to misunderstand this reality so that we are deceived into believing that our choices today have no value. All of us deep down know that our choices have consequences and can be permanent. Only Jesus kills that sin when we ask Him for that, and then we die with our choices for Him or against Him.
Jesus’ Death
Jesus’ death on the Cross has fascinated Dr. Young’s study for more many decades since he was in college. Have you ever wondered why the death of Christ is such a hot controversy? If Jesus didn’t die then He could not rise from the dead.
Muslims and Gnostics do not believe that Jesus was even on the cross in physical form. Then, whoever died upon the Cross could easily rise from the dead, or at least appear that way. John 19:31-37 are some of the most important words in the Gospels in Dr. Young’s view. Within those verses he can prove that Jesus died and that medical evidence indicates that Jesus was already dead before they pierced Him. He can also show that the Bible has not been altered for the nearly 2,000 years since it was written.
Almost as fascinating, these verses indicate that the Romans were professional killers that knew how to accomplish their job efficiently. The Romans were also following one of the first Policy and Procedure Manuals in recorded history. All businesses that survive long-term have policies written so that procedures can be followed in particular ways. These passages describe the death in detail to make sure there would be no doubt that Jesus died. In chapter twenty of John, other historical evidences indicate that proof was known by those Disciples who saw it and recorded that Jesus really did rise from the dead. And thanks be to God that He did so that He could save all people from their sin.
Quotes from the book
“When I was a captain of the guards, men under me had actually told me of the payoff they had received from these rich Disciples who spread their gospel throughout the world. The Roman Empire at the time swept the truth under the dirt-packed floors. But the problem was that if they had acted quickly enough to kill those rumors with the real truth that Jesus was buried in another place, the Empire would not have fallen years later.”
From the character Matthew in Professor in History
Matthew then rubbed his forehead trying to cortically erase the stupidity that he had believed about Jesus death all along. The evidence that Jesus had been seen by so many after His death was too powerful to explain away so doubters throughout history had to show that He didn’t really die. They lied to themselves over and again that the Romans would not have a procedure for knowing that their victims would pay the penalty of death on their torture method of this disgusting Cross. They would never have allowed a Man to come down almost dead from this punishment. He had to die upon this crossbeam. He did die and therefore it meant that He had to come back to life physically. This understanding made Matthew stagger backward as they removed the nails that kept Jesus in place upon his horrific spectacle
